From Homelessness to a New Home
I wish there was more time in a day. More resources than need, and more love than pain. Sometimes we feel pressured to juggle the reality of life with the spirit of God, who has created it.
Life has its ups and downs, and unfortunately, some of the lower circumstances and situations are not in our control. As we continue to show compassion for the stories of lives that unfold around the ministry, we ask you to pray for God’s intervention to supply the needs, while partnering with us, to comfort the following stories we are about to share.
Eighteen-year-old Jaleesa writes:
“Our story is not a very happy one. The strength of our mother has become a very powerful thing to witness. But slowly her body deteriorates and her strength is fading.
After a car accident in November 2015, my mother went into surgery to replace damaged disks in her neck. While in surgery the doctors discovered lung cancer and removed 1/2 right lung. In the midst of this, the doctors ran tests and she was diagnosed with stage 5 renal cell cancer. They have given my mom 6-8 months to live. My mother had to tell her children she was dying.
Today my mother is no longer capable of working, therefore in the midst of everything going on, we are struggling financially while three of us kids try to maintain a normal life. We watch her every day in pain, crying, unable to hold down food; she starves for days.
We have depleted our support from family and friends. Our daily supplies run low and necessities are taken away. The water has been shut off and we have gone without electricity. We depend on a disability check to help us; a check we have been waiting on for months and have not received.
At the end of the day, my mother is dying and it has been hard to cope with. As she dies, we die. We cannot do this by ourselves and need help. Her disease is taking over our lives. We need as much love, prayer and whatever support you can offer. Please and thank you. God Bless ❤.”
Compassion for this family comes from people like you! City Gates Ministry is doing everything within our means to meet the demands, but the strains are great. Please contact us so we can let you know how you can be a part of helping this family. (360-705-0291)
“My name is Kristina and I am a single mom of three very amazing kids. Life has not been easy for me. I gave birth to my first daughter when I was thirteen after becoming pregnant, as a result of, my father trafficking me for drugs. My father and uncle were finally convicted after multiple years of sexual abuse inflicted upon my sister and me. I chose to keep the child.
I eventually grew up and got married. When I was 19 I had just given birth to our second daughter who at the time was 5 weeks old. It was at this time, her older sister became very ill and was sent to Seattle Children’s Hospital. She was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. We did everything we could, but at 5 years old God called her home. It was the hardest thing I have ever gone through. I have since given birth to two other boys; one born prematurely suffers from mental disabilities and my third was born with Cerebral Palsy likely caused by the abuse I endured during the pregnancy from my husband. He is an amazing child and today after many hours of therapy walks on his own.
After years of abuse, we were put into protective custody and moved. Recently my only healthy daughter who is 14 years old was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer cells. She has had to undergo surgery, chemo and radiation treatment. We were forced into homelessness after our house was condemned. A roof leak had reached the electrical and started a fire. City Gates Ministry helped with a hotel, food, and provision; and introduced us to an amazing church while we tried to figure things out. Now, after much prayer and hope, we are presently in a 14-foot travel trailer while we help to partner ministry teams through City Gates Ministries refurbish a mobile home that will eventually be ours. We have a long way to go, but have never been so blessed.”
As City Gates continues to reach out to people in need, we look for your generosity and compassion to plant the seeds of hope into the hearts of those God sends our way. Our prayer this year is to refurbish one mobile home every quarter (four homes/year) and give them to families who qualify to receive them. Please contact us so we can let you know how you can help. Thank you for your support! (360-705-0291)
“We have no right to ask when sorrow comes, ‘Why did this happen to me?’ unless we ask the same question for every moment of happiness that comes our way”. ~Author
